Cub Section:  How Pack Nights work

A Cub Pack meeting usually lasts for an hour and a half.

The 1st Chalfont St Peter Group has three Cub packs, with meeting times of:

Anvil Pack

Monday

6:45 - 8:00pm

Arrowhead Pack

Wednesday

6:30 - 8:00pm

Acorn

Friday

6:30 - 8:00pm

Each Pack meeting will usually start with the flagbreak.  This is followed by inspection of the Pack and a description of what we're going to do during the meeting.

As with the older Scouts, the meetings usually have 3 components:

1

A brief warm-up game

2

Up to an hour as a structured activity, such as badge-work, fires/cooking, pioneering, archery etc.

3

A short game or activity.

The meeting concludes with announcements, a brief prayer or thought and lowering the flag.

We try once a term to get someone with a specialist interest/hobby to come along and demonstrate it and, as far as practicable, get the cubs involved.

Sometimes the entire pack will go for a wide game or for a night hike.  Usually once a term there's a treat activity such as dryslope skiing or Quasar. When we get longer light in the evenings we take the cubs outside a much as practicable.

"In Cubs I've learned stuff about camping and done about 20 badges which is cool because you can show off." Ben Jackman, [Cub]
